メラニー・ブロックは、アジア太平洋、とりわけ日豪ビジネスの専門家として知られています。実務に根ざした経営経験と高度な語学力を併せ持ち、日本企業・外国企業の双方に対し、国内外を問わずビジネス、規制対応、パートナーシップの分野で確かな成果をもたらしてきました。

民間・政府両部門において30年以上にわたり指導的な役職を務め、日本の政治・経済界の有力者との幅広い人脈を有しています。現在は日本を代表する複数の上場企業で社外取締役を務めるほか、長年にわたり豪日関係の推進に尽力し、主要な豪日経済団体でも指導的役職を担ってきました。日本経済新聞、オーストラリアン・フィナンシャル・レビュー、ABC（豪州放送協会）などのメディアに定期的に登場し、企業やNGOの場で日英両言語による講演を行っています。

東日本大震災の被災地の復興支援にも長年携わり、その活動に対して東北地方の複数の自治体から親善大使の称号を授与されました。また、日豪両国の若い世代が二国間関係に関わる機会を増やすことにも力を注いでいます。

西オーストラリア州アルバニー出身。西オーストラリア大学卒業後、クイーンズランド大学にて修士号を取得。経営会議から交渉までを日本語だけでこなす、ネイティブ水準の語学力です。母であり祖母でもあり、現在は日本を拠点としています。

Melanie Brock is a widely respected specialist on Japan and the Asia-Pacific. She pairs hands-on commercial leadership with native-level Japanese, and has a long record of getting business, regulatory and partnership outcomes for Japanese and international companies, at home and abroad.

Melanie is well connected across Japan's corporate, political and government sectors. She appears regularly in the Nikkei, the Australian Financial Review and on the ABC, and speaks to business and NGO audiences in both Japanese and English.

Melanie remains passionate about assisting with reconstruction in areas of Japan affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and was awarded honorary ambassadorships by several towns in the Tohoku region for that work. She is committed to encouraging more young Australians and Japanese to become involved in the bilateral relationship.

Melanie was born in Albany, Western Australia, is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and holds a Master's degree in Conference Interpreting and Translation from the University of Queensland. She is a mother and a grandmother, and is based in Japan.
